Wellness Policy
Helping Keep Our School Healthy
To help protect the health of all children and staff, please keep your child home if they have any of the following symptoms or conditions. If you are unsure whether your child should attend school, please contact us. We are happy to help you make the best decision for your child and our school community.
Fever
Please keep your child home if they have a temperature of 100.4°F (38°C) or higher, chills, or require fever-reducing medication.
Return: Fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication and well enough to participate.
Cough, Sore Throat & Breathing
New cough, Persistent/worsening cough, severe sore throat, difficulty breathing or shortness of breath.
Return: Symptoms improving for 24 hours, breathing comfortably, no cough or cough is well controlled.
Vomiting
Any unexplained vomiting.
Return: Vomit-free for 24 hours and able to keep food and fluids down.
Diarrhea
Three or more loose stools in 24 hours, inability to control bowel movements.
Return: Diarrhea-free for 24 hours.
Rash & Skin Conditions
New unexplained rash, open sores, blistering rash, or rash with fever.
Return: No longer contagious, covered if appropriate, or cleared by a healthcare provider.
Red Eyes (Pink Eye)
Red eyes with yellow/green drainage or significant discharge.
Return: Redness and drainage resolved or cleared by a healthcare provider.
Headache / Fatigue
Severe headache, unusual sleepiness, confusion, irritability, or inability to participate.
Return: Normal behavior and energy have returned.
Pain
Persistent earache, toothache, stomachache, or other pain preventing participation.
Contagious Illnesses
Children with illnesses such as strep throat, chickenpox, hand-foot-and-mouth disease, COVID-19, influenza, RSV, impetigo, or similar contagious illnesses should remain home until no longer contagious.
Injuries & Medical Conditions
Children recovering from surgery, hospitalization, or significant injury may return when they can safely participate and accommodations have been discussed.
Medication
Children should not attend school if medication is needed to reduce fever or mask symptoms so they can attend.
Immunizations
Please keep immunizations current according to Oregon requirements.
During the School Day
If your child becomes ill while at preschool, a parent or emergency contact will be called to pick them up promptly.
Children who attend preschool should be well enough to comfortably participate in indoor, outdoor, and group activities.
